J&K Police Housing Corporation Office Building Based on the recommendations of National Police Commission, a proposal for setting-up of J&K Police Housing Corporation, was mooted to the Government in 1988. Government subsequently accorded sanction to the setting-up of J&K Police Corporation on 30-03- 1989.

In 1997, the Corporation, was got registered with the Registrar of Companies, Government of India on 26-12- 1997. It became functional, after the government appointed Directors on its board on 14-05- 1998.

Main Objectives

As per the Memorandum of Articles of Association, approved by the Government; the main objectives of the Corporation are:-

  • To undertake construction of residential accommodation for the employees of J&K Police Department, Prisons, Fire Services, Home Guards & Civil Defense.
  • To undertake construction of buildings for the offices of above departments such as administrative offices, Police Stations, Barracks, Jails, Fire Stations, Training Institutions etc.
  • Dormitories, Playgrounds, swimming pools & Training infrastructure.
  • To undertake construction of buildings and providing common facilities required for Police colonies and generally to carry on the business of buildings and contractors.
  • To carry on the business of builders and contractors.

Achievements

During the period from 1998, the Corporation has completed the construction of large number of building, which include:-

1. Police Headquarters Building at Gulshan Ground Jammu.
2. PHQ Building at Peer Bagh Srinagar.  
3. Armed Police Hqrs Building at Gulshan Ground Jammu.  
4. CID Headquarters near Emporium Srinagar.

It goes to the credit of the Corporation that despite tremendous increase in the price of inputs like Cement and Steel it has been able to by and large complete the works given to it within the approved allocation. This has been done by exercising utmost economy and completion of projects with the stipulated time frame as a result as on date the rates of the Police Housing Corporation are perhaps the lowest amongst all constructing agencies in the State without, compromising on quality.
